Welcome to Scotland's Premier Therapy and Holistic Personal Development SiteAddiction and Addictive BehaviourAddiction can be helped with Hypnotherapy, Coaching, CBT and Psychotherapy. This can Work in a number of ways:
Addictions assisted include:
Different types of addiction presentation:Some people have a single issue - their addiction. Most of these people choose to consult local NHS or Community Health Teams for support. Complex and Dual Diagnosis cases:Many people are actually complex cases where a mental health condition such as anxiety, depression or Bipolar exists alongside their addiction. Often state provision treats one problem as primary, and almost dismisses the other. For example a community mental health team may prioritise the mental health disorder and simply instruct the client to "stop" using the addictive substance, as if it is a free choice and naughty habit. Also often addiction services refuse to treat addicts who have mental health disorders. Frequently people with mental health disorders attempt a form of self medication and mood control using substances such as alcohol, caffeine and nicotine. A dual issue then arises where they feel they need the substance(s) in order to control their mental health issues, but they also find the substance develops an addictive life of it's own. It is sadly commonplace to find high functioning people, given no support, yet struggling to reduce an addiction, yet finding their underlying condition therefore harder to control. The solution to this kind of situation is a joined up response with lifestyle changes, working with the GP / Specialist to choose appropriate medication, and use of psychological therapies and life coaching. That way positive changes, and new and more positive medication can be combined to create a fresh start. How to seek complementary health support for addictionNot all physical addictions should be assisted without advice- first consult your medical doctor to ensure proper medical diagnosis has taken place. Next it may be worthwhile consulting a professional therapist to see whether hypnotherapy or psychotherapy could help you. No claim is made to cure any medical condition. Complementary health assistance must be with medical doctor's permission and following the client consulting a medical doctor. Where physical addictions are present, the client may need to remain under medical supervision. Some forms of therapy are not permitted with some addictions under standards of practice. We provide complentary assistance drawing on many years of experience of tackling both addictions and the underlying emotional causes of addiction. We adhere to the DANOS (Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards) where appropriate. We work alongside medical and NHS personnel to help clients design an appropriate overall care plan.
