Conditions in Edinburgh Glasgow Falkirk Stirling (Psychotherapy,
Counselling, CBT, Complementary Health therapies)
conditions, whether medical or mental health related can not be "cured"
with any form of medicine, whether complementary or traditional. Such
conditions are instead "managed" instead.
condition is managed, treatments, conventional and complementary, are
combined in order to provide the best possible quality of life and
well-being, while recognising that the sufferer can not be "cured" or
have the condition "removed" through treatment.
cases a complementary health therapist or life coach can play an
important role as part of the overall care plan. The overall plan is
managed and monitored in most cases either by the sufferer themselves,
a carer, the medical doctor or a social worker. In some cases the lead
role is taken by the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).
that clients who come to receive support from us maintain their
cooperation and contact with their lead role carer and their medical
doctor, since we can only provide support as part of the overall care
plan. We can not offer a substitute for other elements of care. We do
not diagnose medical conditions. We do not claim to cure medical
conditions. We do not "treat" medical conditions except as part of an
overall care plan supervised by a medical doctor. We are not and we do
not claim to be medical doctors.
conditions are only addressed with the ongoing supervision of a medical
professional such as a GP. Conditions such as IBS can be addressed in
line with NICE guidelines as long as the client has checked with their
GP first. Mental health conditions are addressed in the context of
psychotherapy, in line with NICE recommendations including the use of
CBT based psychological therapies. We do not "treat", "diagnose" or
claim to "cure" ANY medical or mental health conditions. Where the GP
is happy for us to do so, we may use hypnotherapy, complementary or
appropriate psychological therapies to assist in the management of the
client's condition, as long as they remain under the supervision of a
medical professional. Therefore we only address such conditions where
deemed appropriate by NICE, as accepted psychotherapy or counselling
assistance, or where a medical professional has stated a professional
medical opinion that it is appropriate to do so.

will either not respond to conventional treatment, or is long term as a
result of nerve damage or other injury. Often psychological
intervention can help to reduce stress (increased stress leads to
higher pain levels being perceived), promote relaxation (relaxed states
enable easier self-healing), better coping mentally with the condition
and optimum perception and behaviour. In cases where pain can not be
reduced below basic perception, strategies can be developed to maximise
well-being and activity despite the pain.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other stress related digestive disorders:
stress and complementary health methods can often greatly assist
sufferers in minimising the impact of the condition. Thus management
and symptom reduction can be very effective.
it is vital that the client maintains their contact with their medical
doctor. We will not provide care to clients who remove themselves from
medical care. We work to complement conventional medicine and not to
provide an alternative to it. Never begin a new activity, diet,
exercise routine or other lifestyle change without checking that your
medical condition does not make this unsuitable. Do not stop taking
medication or treatment without first consulting your medical doctor.
